Conference Outcomes

The UNCCD 2nd Scientific Conference with the specific thematic focus on the "Economic assessment of desertification, sustainable land management and resilience of arid, semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas", has been declared closed by  Antonio ROCHA MAGALHÃES; Chairperson of the Committee of Science and Technology CST, United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, Brazil on Friday, 12 April 2013.

The conference concluded with a clear consensus among the over 600 scientists and CST members, that the cost of incation is much higher than to actively combat DLDD by taking effective prevention measures such as sustainable land management.
